button mushroom and oyster mushroom kits |

1).
A hardened stainless steel 'pruner' blade for clean, accurate cutting
of the mushroom. Cutting is generally considered preferable to lifting
the mushroom because it minimises disturbance of the mycelium. |
2).
A serrated scraper edge on the reverse of the blade for removing soil
from the stem. This should be done before placing the mushroom in
the basket, to prevent dirt contaminating previously collected mushrooms.
|
3).
A brush for light cleaning. It is good practice to do this where the
mushroom is collected to help distribute spores. |
4).
The centimetre scale on the handle is for measuring the mushroom.
In some areas in Europe local regulations prohibit the collecting
of undersized specimens of certain species. Always check local regulations
and be responsible about your collecting, wherever you foray. |
5).
The Deluxe knife also has a unique 'orienteering implement' with map
scales and a compass - ideal for more remote forays. To operate the
compass, close the cutting blade and open the map scale blade fully
to prevent the steel in the knife affecting the compass operation.
Hold the knife level and swing it gently from side to side. The compass
will rotate to the north position. |
6).
The attractive and durable belt sheath (supplied with the Deluxe knife
- available as an option for the Standard and Economy versions) completes
the package!. |
